The range opens where the previous one left off but quickly settles into a long family of warm-white cups: a black-lava opener (2151), a plain oval-scarred cup (2152), and then the May-4 run that gathers iron into a new mark — the rust streak, a rust-brown run down the wall that put surface/rust-streak in the registry across five cups (2157, 2158, 2163, 2165, 2166), with fainter wisps between them (2154, 2160, 2161, 2162, 2164, 2169). Breaking up the white are the batch’s painted cups — bold black brushwork over blue on 2159, 2167, and 2170, a flooded black field on 2172, and the starry reactive turquoise of 2173 — and a matched pair pitted with small dark burst-craters (2168, 2171), the second new term of the range.
Then the form loosens. The May-11 session brings a painterly chawan run — cream tea bowls washed in indigo and crawled black, from gate-like brushed bars (2184) and gestural swirls (2185) to broad pitted lava patches (2180, 2182) — with one bare sand-grit outlier (2188) and a short cluster of coarse grogged tumblers (2189–2192) closing the day. The May-12 group then does something the range hadn’t yet: it puts down the cup. Pieces 2193–2200 are the range’s first bowls — a wide brushed-patch pair (2193, 2195), a charcoal-coated deep bowl (2194), a quiet blue-grey wash (2196), a weathered mottle (2197), a gate-marked grogged bowl (2199), and a plain rough closer at the round $22.00 (2200).
