Plain glossy cream ceramic cup with a single dark oval scar on its flank, piece 2152 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

After 2151’s loud flank, a quiet one: a plain glossy cream cup, a straight barrel wrapped in an even white glaze with faint throwing rings circling it. Almost nothing interrupts the surface — except one mark the close-ups keep returning to, a single elongated oval scar on the flank, its dark iron-crusted rim drawn around a paler center like a healed-over lozenge. The trimmed foot carries “2152” handwritten in dark pigment.

One mark on a plain cup — what is it? A lone oval blemish crusted dark at its edges, sitting on an otherwise clean white body; the photos frame it as the cup’s single distinguishing feature, recorded and never called a flaw. Piece 2152 of 10,000, listed at $21.52.
