Coarse grey-beige grogged stoneware cup, dark-speckled under a thin milky glaze, piece 2189 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

After the bare sand-grit of 2188, a small cluster of coarse stoneware tumblers. This one is grey-beige and heavily grogged — dark grains and specks stud the wall — under a thin milky glaze that thins to translucency and pools toward the rim, the throwing rings still legible beneath it. It’s a rougher, rustier cousin of the sandy 2188, but glaze-coated rather than bare. The base carries “2189” handwritten.

Sandy again? Coarse and grainy, yes — grog showing through a thin milky glaze, part of a short run of gritty stoneware tumblers closing out May 11. Piece 2189 of 10,000, listed at $21.89.
