The range opens on a tea-bowl cup where a single dark event dominates a pale sky: a coarse black patch, its surface crumpled and crawled like cooled lava, sweeps across one flank with smaller black masses trailing off it. Around it the frost-white ground stays soft — powder-blue clouds brushed thin, a few tan-ochre scorch smudges low near the foot, a scatter of black speckle. The interior is glossy white. The recessed foot carries “2151” handwritten in dark pigment.
What’s that crumpled black shape? It reads as a thick, crawled patch of dark glaze — pooled and cracked into a sponge-like crust against the white, the piece’s one loud gesture. Piece 2151 of 10,000, listed at $21.51.
