Where did the handles come from? For 1,953 pieces the reviewed catalog showed none. Then the 1951–2000 run grew twelve: six mugs with a single rough loop (1954, 1971, 1986, 1994, 1996, 1998), two cups with an ear on each side (1992, 1993), and four two-handled amphora-form vessels (1995, 1997, 1999, 2000). Each loop is pulled and attached by hand — pinch marks and join seams left showing, some pierced wide, some twisted like rope.

The term records that a handle is there, as photographed. Strength, comfort, and whether a finger fits are things a photo can’t testify to, so no page claims them.
