The amphora family that closed the last range walks straight into this one: piece 2002 is a dark brown-black handbuilt jar with two pulled ears and a flared collar, its whole surface worked to a coarse crumb — less glaze than geology. The warm darkness of the clay reads as fired earth, not paint.
Is piece 2002 part of a set? It’s part of a lineage — the two-handled amphora silhouette arrived at piece 1995 and kept going; this is the family’s first member of the new thousand. Piece 2002 of 10,000, listed at $20.02.
