Near-black handbuilt two-handled ceramic boulder-urn with a tan striped panel wiped through its dark surface, piece 2017 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

An urn-like near-black boulder — two triangular pulled loops high on the shoulders, a round crater mouth ringed by a raised collar — wearing a striped panel on its chest: vertical tan bands cut through the dark surface to the pale clay beneath, deliberate as a barcode. Pale grit specks scatter across the handbuilt body around it.

Are the stripes on piece 2017 carved? They read as wiped or combed through the dark layer rather than cut into the clay — broad soft-edged bands, not scratches — but the method stays with the maker. Piece 2017 of 10,000, listed at $20.17.
