Soot-black handbuilt ceramic two-handled amphora-form vessel with white marbled patches, piece 1997 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

1995’s midnight twin: the same two-eared amphora form gone soot-black, its handbuilt shoulders wrinkled like cooled tar, with white marbled patches surfacing through the dark and a crater mouth pinched at the crest. Three photos walk around it; the near-black is clean enough to carry the charcoal color name, a color and nothing more.

Why does the amphora shape keep no form tag? Because the registry hasn’t ruled on it yet — four of these close the run, and the vocabulary follows the pots. Piece 1997 of 10,000, listed at $19.97.
