The pinched wavy rim glosses inside the lip; a fine star of hairlines sits in the wash near the handle join, recorded as-is; and the fifth photo holds the cup in hand, base up, its number scratched faintly into the bare clay — 2044, incised before the fire. Its sibling 2045 came off the same bench.
