Handbuilt ceramic cup with a pulled loop handle, milky pale glaze over the upper body breaking to an orange-tan band at mid-body over bare speckled clay, piece 2044 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

The cups return for the batch’s finale. This one wears a milky pale wash over its upper two-thirds, breaking to an orange-tan band at mid-body where bare speckled greige clay takes over — orange flashing warms the pulled loop handle’s side. The pinched wavy rim glosses inside the lip; a fine star of hairlines sits in the wash near the handle join, recorded as-is; and the fifth photo holds the cup in hand, base up, its number scratched faintly into the bare clay — 2044, incised before the fire. Its sibling 2045 came off the same bench.

How do you know piece 2044 is piece 2044? Turn it over — the number rides incised in the base clay, the ledger written into the pot itself. Piece 2044 of 10,000, listed at $20.44.
