Dark handbuilt two-handled ceramic amphora with pale wash mottling and the letters SUP scratched into its flank, piece 2013 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

An ancient form with a modern greeting: this dark handbuilt amphora — two loops, short torn collar — carries the letters SUP scratched plainly into one flank, and a circled six-like doodle near the shoulder. Thin grey pale wash mottles the scorched body in map-like patches, continents drifting on a dark sea.

Is piece 2013 really labeled SUP? Three scratched letters say so; whether it’s a greeting, initials, or something else entirely, the pot isn’t telling. Second incised inscription in as many numbers, after 2011. Piece 2013 of 10,000, listed at $20.13.
