Handbuilt ceramic cup with a chunky flat pulled handle, bold red-brown horizontal brushstrokes banding a streaky milky white wash, piece 2047 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

Where 2046 committed to one stroke, this cup commits to the whole pattern: bold red-brown horizontal strokes band the body zebra-like over a visibly streaky, milky white brushed wash — multiple deliberate parallel passes wrapping around, with more bold brown patches gathering near the chunky, blade-flat pulled handle. The pinched wavy rim glosses over a speckled greige ground. It opens a family of decorated cups that runs through 2048, 2049, and 2050, echoing the batch’s first brushwork on teabowl 2019.

Who painted piece 2047’s stripes? The brush did, unmistakably — parallel strokes this bold and even are the clearest brushwork in the batch. Piece 2047 of 10,000, listed at $20.47.
