What is a glazed rim band? A stripe of glaze along the rim of an otherwise bare pot, usually running down into the interior — the drinking edge gets the glass, the body stays raw. Seven pieces around 1571–1597 wear it: gray bands over red clay on 1571, 1574, and 1578, over sandy buff on 1576 and 1577, over marbled bodies on 1579 and 1580.
