Rounded pale ceramic cup whose glossy grey shoulder band ends in an irregular plum seam with one drip, piece 1930 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

A rounded pale cup whose glossy grey shoulder band doesn’t end so much as tear — its lower edge runs in an irregular plum-red seam across the bare cream body, sending down a single drip like sealing wax. The macro follows the seam’s scallops; the plum note recurs quietly on 1936 and 1937.

What made the red edge? The place where the grey coat stops — why it burns plum there is one of the run’s open questions, recorded and left open. Piece 1930 of 10,000, listed at $19.30.
