Piece 1942 is a cream-bodied cup with a defined, rounded lip, thrown on the wheel. A pale grey band of glaze gathers at the rim and slides down the outside in long, narrow drips.
Low on the body, two dark brown brush-strokes cut across the pale clay, and a dimpled, dappled patch textures one side. Inside, small green and reddish flecks dot the pale glaze.
Where does the colour collect on this cup? Almost all of it rides the rim — a grey glaze that drips down the side — while the cream body below stays bare but for two brown strokes. Piece 1942 of 10,000, listed at $19.42.
