Thirty-four photographed pieces carrying the red run of the low 1600s to its close. Prices run $16.53 to $16.87; one number in the span (1675) has no photographed listing and no page.
The sandy red openers (1653–1658). Pink-red and rose vessels with coarse, crack-webbed crusts, photographed in the workshop — on a blue turntable, held in hand before a table crowded with the series itself. 1655 carries its number incised in its base; 1657’s rim rises in a skyline of points.
Dark interruptions (1659–1660). A dark crackled pot with base digits too rough to read, then the first of the crowned ones: 1660, whose sunken top carries glossy, glass-like pools around a porthole mouth — the newest term in the registry, with three members here.
The torn-crown reds (1661–1678). Brick-red cups, cylinders, and pots with torn, scalloped, castellated crowns — 1674’s rounded castle merlons, 1677’s outward-folding flaps, 1672’s saw-tooth edge. 1663 and the stepped 1683 wear their coil bands plainly. Mixed in: the pale-dusted plum pieces — 1664 and 1665 under a sage-cream dusting — and 1676, the run’s one sand-buff interruption. 1673 goes near-black with a pewter sheen, answered later by the gunmetal bottle 1680 and its triangular mouth.
The windowsill series (1681–1687). Sunlit sill, a twine-tied bundle of dried plants, a dark rock for company: maroon and red cups and vases photographed in warm light, ending with 1679’s milky pooled crown just before it and 1687 — the tall marbled vase photographed actually holding the bundle, the range’s closing image.
