Sandy pink-red handbuilt vessel with a pinched waist and crusted sunken crown, photographed on a blue turntable in a workshop, piece 1653 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

A sandy pink-red vessel with a peanut of a silhouette — bulging low, pinching at the middle, swelling again at the crown, where the crusted top sinks to a small rough mouth. Fine crack lines web the handbuilt wall. Its photo sits it on a blue-painted turntable with a shelf of dark round pots and a string of small lights behind.

Why the pinched waist? The wall was drawn in mid-height and left that way — the piece stands like a figure with its hands on its hips. Piece 1,653 of 10,000, listed at $16.53.
