What dragged through the dark surface? Three reviewed tea-bowl cups from the rocky chawan run of the 2051–2100 range carry pale swipe marks pulled through their darker crust and glaze fields — grey patches swiped over rust ground on 2055 and 2056, and bold diagonal grey sweeps with visible drag lines on 2057, where the close-up shows the stroke’s texture plainly.
What made the marks — a finger, a tool, a brush, a resist — is never asserted; the pages record where the swipes travel and what they reveal underneath. The name deliberately avoids claiming glaze (the swiped material photographs matte), following the same caution as pale-wash. Approved in the 2026-07-12 batch-13 ruling with three founding members.
