Grey rocky handbuilt ceramic tea-bowl cup with pale brushy crust patches over rust-brown cracked ground, piece 2056 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

Second of the rocky chawan run and the greyest: pale grey crust patches swiped over rust-brown cracked ground, the pale swipes reading like weather across stone, under a dark glossy crusted rim. The interior repeats its sibling 2055’s trick — a clear silvery thin-line squiggle at the dark well, with a silvery crawled ring riding the rim. The base-up shot shows “2056” incised in the sandy base, the first digit crossed by a crack but the digit-forms plain.

How do you know which chawan is which? This one signs itself — its number cut into the sandy base, still readable through the crack that crosses it. Piece 2056 of 10,000, listed at $20.56.
