What are the colored specks in the glaze? A matched pair of pale, cream-glazed cups — 1940 and 1942 — carry small green and red mineral-like flecks suspended in the light glaze, scattered fine across the surface and gathered where the glaze pools inside.
The flecks are named by color and setting only; what they are — mineral, grog, or something added — is never asserted, the same caution kept for the blue blue flecks and the dark-ground colored flecks elsewhere in the series, each a separate term for a different ground. Approved in the 2026-07-14 batch-18 ruling.
