What are the colored specks on these dark cups? Three near-black handbuilt cups from August 2025 are peppered with small glassy flecks in green and yellow, thickest in the recesses of the clay. The look is the shared signature of the little family — 1783, the grid-impressed cup, and the waisted pair 1784 and 1785.
The flecks are named by color only. What they are — glaze, mineral, or inclusion — is never asserted, the same caution the catalog keeps for the blue blue flecks elsewhere in the series (kept a separate, blue-only term). Approved in the 2026-07-13 batch-17 ruling.
