The biggest of the July 16 boulders — it fills a spread hand in the opening photo, where the others sit comfortably inside one. A closed handbuilt form in coarse dark bare clay, and the only one in the group opened up: controlled thermal shock has broken the dark outer surface in places to reveal the paler clay inside, showing as cream lines and short curling arcs around the flank and a longer break down one side. It is also the most heavily grained of the eight, with pale particles standing across the whole body, from fine pepper on the crown to coarse grains along the belly. The hole sits in a shallow crater at the top, its rim torn and folded, with a dried grass stem set into it in the second photo.
