The most marked piece of its group, and the one whose marks have a known cause: nepheline syenite was set on top of the form while it was still closed, and water was dripped onto it. What ran off is written across the whole boulder — pale cream veining that wanders in thin lines through one stretch and lands as broad splashes in the next, heaviest around the crown where it started and thinning as it goes down. Under it the handbuilt body stays dark charcoal, granular and pitted bare clay. A round hole is bored clean through the top, a pale patch sitting right at its mouth, and a dried grass stem rises from it in the first photo.
