A rugged dark handmade cup with a torn rim and a pale frost-speckled surface; a separate photo shows the number incised into its base — piece 1805 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

A rugged, slightly waisted open cup with a torn rim, its dark body scattered with a pale, frost-like speckle that catches thickest over the crusted upper wall. Small dark flecks and a few nubs break the surface here and there. The walls are hand-formed, leaning and uneven. A base photo shows the number 1805 incised into the clay, legible across the foot. It is staged on a paint-splattered stool and turntable.

Where’s the number on this one? It is cut straight into the base — the fourth photo shows “1805” incised into the clay foot. Piece 1805 of 10,000, listed at $18.05.
