What are the thin white lines? On two dark bellied vessels in pieces 1848–1899, thin white lines wrap the body like loose threads — some run near-horizontal, some cross at a diagonal, all of them fine as string against the near-black ground. 1884 carries them almost alone; 1886 tangles them with peach patches and a grey drippy rim band.
The term names the fine white line-work against the dark ground, not the method that made it. Fainter line work stays in prose: 1877’s thin white bands are described on its own page, untagged.
