Close view of a cream ceramic tumbler, a blue-black glaze wash pooling and running over its lower body with small dark specks scattered through the blue, piece 2099 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

A cream cylindrical tumbler with a slightly uneven rim, its lower body wrapped in an asymmetric blue-black wash that pools and runs. The wash sits differently on each side: heavy with narrow near-black horizontal streaks on one, broken into darker patches and short marks on another, thinned to pale teal streaks above a solid navy band on a third. Small near-black specks scatter through the blue wherever it lands. The interior is a solid glossy gray-tan. The base is largely unglazed buff clay with concentric ring impressions at its center, “2099” hand-inscribed in black, and a partial black arc reaching the foot edge.

Does the blue wrap all the way around? Every side shows some of it, always riding the lower half and never in the same arrangement twice. Piece 2099 of 10,000, listed at $20.99.
