Rust-red handbuilt ceramic tea-bowl cup with a dark chocolate crusted rim, piece 2062 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

Seventh cup in the rocky chawan company: bare rust-red body, dark chocolate wet-look crust at the rim, nothing to prove it isn’t a stone until you look inside. There the dark interior holds a clear glossy pool at the well — bubble rings frozen mid-boil, drip lines feeding it — the kind of glass-slick pool the registry tracks without ever naming what melted. A silvery ring line rides the inner rim; the base shows faint curls in its pale center that never resolve into digits.

What’s shining at the bottom? A pool of something that ran molten and set like glass — the photos show the shine and keep the recipe. Piece 2062 of 10,000, listed at $20.62.
