The range’s great oddity: a rocky tan tea-bowl cup fused at one side to a dark maroon-purple mass, studded with pale crushed chips, that rides the rim edge and reaches the table like a barnacle’s leg. The rim melts glossy, with silvery iridescent traces just inside it, including one squiggle that loops like a figure eight; the brown gritty interior carries faint blue smears and a few tiny hairlines, all recorded as looks and nothing more.
Is the rock part of the cup? Inseparably, as photographed — cup and mass share a rim the way an oyster shares its shell. Piece 2061 of 10,000, listed at $20.61.
