The batch’s fossil: a near-black handbuilt boulder wearing a full leaf impression — lobed like an oak, veins intact — pressed pale-tan into the crust, with smaller leaf ghosts breaking through around it and leopard-spots of dark showing where the leaf skeleton opened. It is the second leaf print the reviewed catalog has seen, after 1935’s ghosted prints on a pale cup, and by far the clearer of the pair. One frame stands a dried lavender sprig in the mouth — staging, noted as such.
