The dark grey-brown gritty wall is dusted all over with a pale frost-like speckle, and pale glassy runs trail down the body and into the dark, gritty interior. Turned over, the base carries the number painted in dark pigment, legible as 1819. It is photographed on a worktable in a busy studio, other dark vessels crowded behind.
