A new May-14 group begins, rougher and more matte than the silky May-12 bowls — and it opens on its plainest. A cream-white footed bowl sits under a clear glossy glaze that pools with a faint iridescent sheen; the only mark inside is a single soft tan streak, and the rim is torn and wavy. A teal glaze smudge runs across the base, taking the handwritten number with it.
Is it decorated at all? Barely — a clear glaze over plain cream clay with one faint tan streak, the quietest opener the range could ask for. Piece 2210 of 10,000, listed at $22.10.
