The driftwood cup — the first of the May pair. Dry umber-and-charcoal scrub-brushing drags over a cream body until the wall reads like weathered bark: silvery frost catching the high spots, an iron-orange blush warming the foot, every bristle stroke left visible the way the range’s dry-brushed cups leave theirs. A cream-white liner rolls over the lip from inside, a clean collar on a weathered post. Three of the seven photos put it in the maker’s hand, which tells you it sits in a palm and nothing more precise. The base swirls with a spiral trail and carries “2144” handwritten in brown.
Is it actually wood-textured? No — it’s smooth ceramic doing a bark impression with nothing but dry pigment and drag; the close-ups show brush hairs, not grain. Piece 2144 of 10,000, listed at $21.44.
