Pale grey-buff barrel-bodied cup circled by an incised line carrying three small medallions, one filled with hatch marks, piece 2129 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

A pale grey-buff cup with a barrel swell, wider at the belly, drawing in toward rim and base. An incised line circles the upper body and carries three small round medallions spaced along it: one filled with vertical hatch marks, like a scrap of woven texture, the other two left as plain shallow prints. A single rust-orange fleck sits near the rim, and the mouth opens onto a mottled dark brownish-grey interior, a shade the outside never shows. The base shows a raised outer ring around a recessed, ringed center, with a handwritten marking in dark reddish brown at its middle (only its first character reads clearly, so this page claims no number).

What is the hatched medallion? A thumbnail-sized circle filled with straight vertical strokes, like a scrap of woven texture set among two plain companions that keep the question open. Piece 2129 of 10,000, listed at $21.29.
