Just past the abstract-cups range, 2093 keeps the splashed idiom of its neighbourhood. It’s a straight-sided cup, near enough a cylinder, its cream-white ground carrying fine grey-black spatter from rim to foot. Navy-black blob fields wrap the body and band it like weather systems — soft-edged, bleeding into the speckle, going silvery where the light rakes across them — and a panel of pale turquoise wash sits between two of them, the one calm patch on the cup.
Walk around it and the black keeps arriving: broader on the far side, split by cream inlets, drifting down over the foot in flecks and small pits. The rim carries the storm too, a dark splash riding over the edge. Inside, the well photographs pale grey-brown and glossy under a speckled lip. Underneath, “2093” is handwritten in black across the bare base, stacked on two lines over its spiral forming rings.
Where does the speckle stop? Nowhere — it carries under the blobs, onto the foot, over the base edge, the cup’s one continuous weather. Piece 2093 of 10,000, listed at $20.93.
