White handbuilt ceramic cup densely speckled with grey-black spatter and wrapped in glossy navy-black blob fields, held in a hand, piece 2093 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

Just past the abstract-cups range, 2093 continues the splashed idiom of its neighborhood: a small cup, white ground densely speckled with fine grey-black spatter, wrapped mid-body by glossy navy-black blob fields that band it like weather systems, pale-blue wash ghosting at one edge. The black glaze goes silvery where light rakes it, its brushy edges bleeding into the speckle; two or three tiny pinhole pits dot the dark fields, and a brown scuff line rides near the stepped little foot — all recorded as looks. The base shows “2093” handwritten in black ink beside a spiral forming ridge.

Where does the speckle stop? Nowhere — it carries under the blobs, onto the foot, over the base edge, the cup’s one continuous weather. Piece 2093 of 10,000, listed at $20.93.
