Look straight down and there it is: at the center of a speckled granite floor, a white glassy pool webbed with fine crackle, like ice over a well. Around it the handbuilt chawan runs dark — silvery-grey wash over near-black walls, glossy streaks at the rim — but the pool is the event, the run’s kin to the pooled floors of 2334 and 2335.
Why does the pool crackle? The crazing webs whatever melted and sat there, fine as ice over a well. Piece 1982 of 10,000, listed at $19.82.
