Cream-white handbuilt ceramic chawan streaked with charcoal-grey gritty marks, piece 1977 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

Third of the dark-on-white family: after 1951’s veins and 1957’s storm, this handbuilt chawan runs charcoal-grey streaks down a matte cream body, gritty crusted patches gathering where the streaks pool, with the faintest blue-grey tints ghosting between — faint enough that they stay in prose. The rim carries a glossy edge over it all.

Same hand as 1951 and 1957? Same look, in a third grammar — veins, then smears, now streaks. The family is real even if its recipe is never named. Piece 1977 of 10,000, listed at $19.77.
