The dark half of the lidded family begins here: a matte charcoal boulder of a jar, built from pressed slabs whose seams stay visible like patchwork on stone, wearing a little hat of a lid — a lumpy pebble ball on a scalloped flange. The second photo sets the lid beside the jar, its crater mouth open.
Jar or boulder? Both at once — the body belongs to the boulder lineage of 1901 and the 1848–1899 run, but the deliberate mouth and lid make it a vessel that opens. Piece 1945 of 10,000, listed at $19.45.
