The pale counter-world of the 1901–1950 run opens here: a cream cup kin to the abstract cups of 2085–2092, its wall flicked with black brushed splatter under a lavender-grey glossy wash. Turn it over and the base carries its own name — “1925” handwritten on the bare clay, the run’s first signed base.
Did someone write on it? Yes — the number 1925, by hand, on the underside. The price says the same thing a different way: piece 1925 of 10,000, listed at $19.25.
