Handbuilt ceramic cup wrapped in alternating wavy cream and black bands, its interior whitewashed pale, piece 1890 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

The full zebra: wavy cream and near-black bands alternate down the entire handbuilt wall, and the rim opens onto a whitewashed pale interior webbed with crazing. Fine hairline lines thread the pale zone at the right of the photo — observed, tagged, characterized no further. With 1888 it completes the banded pair; on its own it’s the run’s boldest pattern.

Do the bands line up with anything inside? No — inside is all one pale wash, so the stripes stop at the rim like a coat taken off at the door. Piece 1890 of 10,000, listed at $18.90.
