A dark mauve-brown vessel that pinches in at the middle to a waisted silhouette, open at the top under a torn, uneven rim. The whole wall is bare and sand-textured, coarse pale grit standing out across the darker body, and low sun rakes hard across the texture from one side. The lopsided profile and uneven rim read as handbuilt work rather than anything turned on a wheel.
Why does the wall look so gritty? The bare surface is sand-textured and flecked with pale grains from foot to lip — a texture described by look, with no clay or material named. Piece 1823 of 10,000, listed at $18.23.
