Dark hand-built cup with a torn rim and a pale grey crazed crust over the body, on a wooden board — piece 1781 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

A small cup built by hand, with an uneven, torn rim and softly waisted walls. Much of the exterior is veiled in a pale grey crazed, chalky crust that webs over the darker clay beneath, breaking to show near-black and tan patches where it thins. Another view turns to a side that is mostly dark, rough clay; the surface is dry throughout, ending in a small dark foot.

What is the pale grey coat on Piece 1781? It reads as a chalky, crazed crust lying over the darker body, breaking to show near-black and tan where it thins. Piece 1781 of 10,000, listed at $17.81.
