A small, rounded, rock-like form that closes to a torn crater mouth at the top — a handbuilt boulder rather than an open cup. Its whole surface carries a glossy, dark bronze metallic sheen — salt-fired — that pools and breaks over the craggy ridges. Turned over, the base is carved with an incised “1719”, set in a patch of pale sage and gold. It was photographed on a wooden table with studio shelving blurred behind.
Does it open up, or stay closed? It reads mostly closed — a rock-like body with only a small torn crater at the crown. Piece 1,719 of 10,000, listed at $17.19.
