Piece 1711 is a small, barrel-bellied vessel in terracotta-red clay, photographed on a windowsill. Much of the body is crusted with pale, grog-like particles that have erupted through the surface in cream and white, and across the middle those crusted patches catch a warm golden metallic sheen. The rim is torn and uneven, the walls lumpy and hand-shaped — built by hand rather than turned — with fine cracks threading the clay.
