The pale run breaks here: a near-black cup crusted granular as coffee grounds, rim torn. Look straight down and the floor holds a milky grey-white glossy pool, bright against the dark walls. Turn it over and the one pale spot on the whole piece is a bare round pad carrying its number, 549, incised.
