Looking into the pale tan interior of an organic ceramic bowl with rust-brown edges and a torn rim, piece 2202 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

A rougher, earthier neighbour to the marbled bowl before it. The whole outer wall is a rust-brown, iron-warm crust — mottled and matte, terracotta-toned — while the interior stays pale tan, faintly ringed and marked only by a torn edge that darkens to rust. No paint, no gesture; the surface itself is the event. The base carries “2202” handwritten.

Why so earthy? Because the outer wall is one continuous rust-brown crust wrapping a plain pale bowl — the reaction of the surface, not a decoration laid on top. Piece 2202 of 10,000, listed at $22.02.
