A round-bellied handmade cup, egg-shaped and standing on a small foot, its cream-white ground carrying gestural brushed decoration. On the front, a thick black line runs the width of the body, thinning and swelling as it goes, and swings into a large soft black mass at one edge; teal and turquoise washes sit beneath and around it like watercolour, and a blue drip runs down from the rim.
Come round the back and the black takes over. A single deep field covers most of that wall, cream breaking through it in bays and inlets — and the field is pocked with round craters that open onto pale clay underneath, a dozen or so scattered across it, each with a raised lip. It is the loudest surface on the cup and the quietest colour.
The interior photographs pale cream and glossy, a faint spiral turning in the floor. The foot is bare clay, ringed with spiral marks and carrying no written number. Its six photos were taken on August 5, 2026 — see everything photographed that day.
