Dark handbuilt ceramic boulder with pale scuffed mottling and an off-center punched mouth, piece 1969 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

A tall handbuilt boulder whose dark skin is scuffed everywhere with pale dry-brushed mottling, like a stone that spent a century being handled. The mouth is a hole punched off-center at the crest, rough at the lip. Next to 1968’s clean black, this one is all weathering — too mottled to carry a color name, per the clear-match rule.

Boulder or bottle? No neck, small torn mouth, closed rock form — boulder, by the registry’s own definition. Piece 1969 of 10,000, listed at $19.69.
