A single frame of desert: this handbuilt boulder photographs like wind-worn sandstone, warm tan staining across a pale body, with wrinkled, cross-hatched texture bands crossing the shoulder as if something soft once pressed there. The small mouth sits at the crest with a stub of a neck. What made the marks stays unsaid.
Are the bands an impression? They look pressed rather than carved, and that hedged sentence is as far as one photo lets the page go. Piece 1965 of 10,000, listed at $19.65.
