Dark handbuilt ceramic vessel with crusted surface fissures opening to rust-red and plum beneath, piece 1911 of A Penny For Your Pottery.

The best-documented of the rust-fissures trio — three photos walk around a handbuilt dark vessel whose crusted skin splits open to rust-red and plum below. Alongside 1902 and 1904 it makes the case that the look is a family, not an accident of one pot.

Why three photos of cracks? Because the seams change as the pot turns — each frame catches a different fissure flashing a different red. Observed, recorded, never explained away. Piece 1911 of 10,000, listed at $19.11.
