A small handbuilt jar mottled rust over black, capped with a simple knob lid — second of the run’s lidded family and the first of its rust-black strain, which returns in 1924 and 1927 as egg-shaped jars. Both photos keep the lid seated; the knob sits slightly off-center, the way pinched things do.
Why a lid? Nine pieces in this run arrived photographed with lids — jars, a box, a brick — a family the catalog had never seen before 1906. This one is the pocket-sized member: piece 1907 of 10,000, listed at $19.07.
