The first strongly red piece in the 1848–1899 run: a handbuilt cup whose wall is smeared and clumped in rust and brick tones, ridged like dried mudflow, with a grey speckled zone circling the rim. The close-up finds one tiny mustard-yellow crumb on the shoulder and a flash of orange at the base — details logged here in prose, colors named as impressions only.
How red is it? Red enough to stand alone in this batch, worn in patches over darker clay rather than as one even coat — which is exactly why it carries no color tag. Piece 1883 of 10,000, listed at $18.83.
